I love books...
This is me reading as a teenager!
By the time I was ten, I was taking a bus to the public library and coming home with stacks of books. Curling up with a book is still my favorite activity. When I'm not reading, I'm writing. I've wanted to be an author forever. When I was 15, my short story won a newspaper contest, and that was the beginning. I kept reading and reading and writing and writing.
Send me an email.
This is me at 12.
I love getting mail! Tell me about your favorite books. I love everything from Blueberries For Sal to The Witch of Blackbird Pond. Other favorites are The True Blue Scouts of Sugar Man Swamp, One for the Murphys, Out of the Dust, See You at Harry's, One Came Home, and The Center of Everything.

I grew up making pies with my sister, and now I make them with my daughters. We like to mix things up, just like June! We add blackberries and peaches and apples together.
Spending time by the water — sailing, kayaking or swimming — is a big part of my life. I don't live in Vermont any more (that's the pacific ocean behind me in the picture) but I go to Vermont every summer. Being in the water makes me feel peaceful and that everything is right in the world.
